RFK Jr. Is At It Again:
We'll Be Lucky If Our Scientific Leadership Is Held Back By Only a Decade-The 8/23 News Recap.
Feel free to keep tabs on this research manual and strategy guide for the progressive pro-democracy movement on Substack, Medium, and LinkedIn, including past pieces on the 2024 Autopsy, Bench-Building, DOGE News, Project 2025 Authoritarianism, Progressive Populism, and more (First Come, First Serve!).
I’m going back to school (well, kinda, it’s graduate school), so I probably will not be doing as much blogging as I have over the summer. But let’s see how it plays out.
To the news:
Make America Healthy Again is a fraud.
RFK Jr. won’t push for strict pesticide rules and regulations in a big win for Big Food, and his other policy prescriptions are similarly vague. Furthermore, two food safety committees and 50 food production standards were cut entirely at the behest of Trump. Senate Republicans were duped by RFK Jr. He doesn’t care about healthy food.
But the brainworm-infested HHS Secretary is doing more damage beyond that. His department wages a full-out assault on vaccines and treatments that saved millions of American lives from a variety of diseases, like COVID-19, measles, whooping cough, tuberculosis, pertussis, smallpox, chickenpox, Mpox, HIV/AIDS, and countless others. The measles outbreak in West Texas only ended after reaching nearly 800 reported cases with 2 deaths, part of a 33-year high nationwide of over 1,300 cases. Kennedy fired the entire vaccine advisory committee responsible for keeping vaccines safe, doing so when conflicts of interest in the panel were at the lowest rates ever.
You know the Autism research for finding out whether there are indeed environmental causes? RFK Jr. cut that funding too. How about chronic diseases? Health & Human Services recently wiped out an entire center dedicated to taking on those very conditions.
It is because of Kennedy Jr. that state Republicans seek to remove fluoride in drinking water, a proven public health benefit for decades. For those who care about their teeth, get ready for more cavities and dentist appointments. The former whale decapitator and bear killer’s administration delayed placing limits on PFAS “forever chemicals,” while loosening rules regulating carcinogens in places most affected by environmental pollution such as Louisiana’s Cancer Alley.
He even gutted mRNA research after it saved our skins by rolling out the COVID-19 vaccine way in advance of the usual deadlines. If not for that, the coronavirus pandemic would have lasted and peaked for far longer than it did.
RFK Jr. is a one-man wrecking crew to science, health, and our overall well-being.
Wages aren’t keeping up with inflation in many job professions.
CEO pay in some low-wage companies exceeds 600x of what many workers receive in their paychecks.
The Department of Transportation disbands the advisory committees assigned to enact safety regulations for the freight rail, passenger rail, and trucking industries.
Mass deportations hollow out the caregiving sector that many immigrants are employed in.
The Trump Administration will be reviewing all 55 million people with valid US visas for possible deportation.
The White House still withholds billions of dollars in funding for the PEPFAR program, and orders a halt to offshore wind projects off of Connecticut and Rhode Island, after doing so already in New York State.
The White House is now complicit in the doctoring of the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal by releasing questionable interview transcripts while hiding other documents relevant to the potential exposure of Epstein’s associates, and by putting Congress in recess. They are protecting the elites.
The Fifth Circuit rules that the NLRB is unconstitutional, siding with SpaceX. The case will likely go up to the US Supreme Court.
The states deploying their National Guards to Washington DC have higher violent crime rates than Washington DC. So you have to wonder is Trump really trying to bring down violent crime in the country? I highly doubt it. The Government Obstruction Party showed its true colors in its “concern” for crime on January 6, 2021 and thereafter with mass pardons of convicted felons and cop killers.
The development of more rural ghost towns in Montana and elsewhere may worsen with Trump’s Medicaid cuts to rural hospitals, as former Governor Steve Bullock recently wrote about.
Nevada sees a Trump Slump as immigration crackdowns and tariff whiplash continues, accelerated by an already booming online gambling sector impacting in-state casinos.
Abortion care at veterans affairs hospitals across the country are set to be severely curtailed effective immediately, including in cases of rape, incest, or the life of the mother in jeopardy.
If you are carrying rifles in Washington DC, Judge Jeanine Pirro will not prosecute you.
More detention camps being built in recent days, from Alligator Alcatraz in Florida, to Fort Bliss in Texas, and Cornhusker Clink in Nebraska.
Want a tour of the White House? You have to wait for the completion of the Dear Leader’s ballroom.
Will Rhode Island call for a special session to address the budget cuts made in Trump’s megabill? Rhode Islanders await how the federal cuts will impact the state budget.
Some good news: the RI Public Transportation Authority cuts were held off for now to the delight of many working class, low-income, and even homeless bus riders. Whether RIPTA will be funded in a special session has yet to be determined.
Intel struggles in getting the necessary financial resources to kickstart its chipmaking production capacities in the United States. One big mistake in the CHIPS Act was putting all of the nation’s stock in a handful of large chipmaking companies like Intel, a company that is relying on capital injections from a Trump-aligned equity company, SoftBank Group. More of Gina Raimondo doing wonders on government policy. Now the US government is buying a 10% stake in Intel.
Speaking of former Rhode Island Governor Raimondo, her friend/possible protege, former CVS President Helena Buonanno Foulkes, is likely running for Governor of Rhode Island as well. This is the same Foulkes who ran CVS as President up until 2018.
That same CVS has been ordered to pay $290 million in a drug whistleblower lawsuit for overcharging Medicare on prescription drug prices. This has been the longtime business model of CVS under Foulkes’s watch (see the Rhode Island complaint about the opioid crisis filed by former US Attorney Zachary Cunha). Not a flattering picture of Foulkes, who prioritizes bloated executive pay and shareholder profits over public health on multiple occasions (cigarettes, opioids, and fraudulent medical billing).
RI flags are raised a half staff in honor of the late Judge Frank Caprio. Did you know Caprio ran for AG in 1970 and Mayor in 1978? I didn’t.
Got a good story that I missed? Write it down in the comments below.
With that, see you soon.
Also, you should do your research on the Covid shot
Great post, Mike!
